The Votes Are In!

A congratulatory shout out is in order for middle school parents, Rene and Joey Mouton, and high school parent, Gerald Labbie.  They have been voted volunteers of the month for March.

If you’ve ever attended one of Northland’s track meets, you’ll know that our track program is a tightly-run program. Under the direction of middle school track coach, Carolyn Lemm, the track meets typically accommodate 300  athletes from approximately 15 schools....LOTS of runners!

Rene & Joey
Coach Lemm has high expectations for her team of volunteers.  Track meets are fast-paced require many volunteers who need to be accurate in their measuring at field events and timing at the start and finish line. Coach Lemm often hand-picks her helpers to ensure the meets run smoothly.

Rene and Joey (who have a middle school son named Matthew) are new to Northland this year but have jumped right in and spent countless hours working the concession stand, the long jump pits, the high jump pits and timing runners.

“We came to Northland from Strack public school,” says Rene. “We not only have enjoyed seeing Matthew perform, but have also learned about how track meets are run.”

Northland Christian Baseball is fortunate to have Gerald Labbie, father of sophomore Nick, contributing his efforts to our Cougar baseball program.  As a construction superintendent, his skills are greatly valued.

Gerald (5th from left)
Gerald has been instrumental in helping the baseball program with a number of helpful facility tasks: negotiating a discount purchase for and installing a new camera system at the baseball fields, leading the annual baseball/softball crawfish boil, building dugout shelving/cubbies and preparing the fields and dugouts for the season. We are blessed to have Gerald advocating and striving for excellent facilities and programs for our baseball Cougars.

The NCS Booster Club thanks Gerald, Rene and Joey for their dedication to our athletic programs. They will receive a gift card from Jersey Mike's Sandwich Shop.
